Undergraduate and master's level: Students who have completed their education in Germany or are EU nationals who have not studied in Germany before are eligible for a monthly stipend of up to $713. Additionally, they can receive $330 for books and materials. Non-EU students who have not studied in Germany will receive a monthly stipend of $934 for personal expenses, along with other allowances that vary based on individual circumstances.
Doctoral level: Students who have studied in Germany or are EU nationals who have not previously studied in Germany will receive a monthly stipend of $1,484. They will also receive an additional allowance of $110 for research expenses. Non-EU students who have not studied in Germany will receive a monthly stipend of $1,319, along with a $110 monthly allowance for mobility expenses.
Eligibility for Heinrich Boll Foundation Scholarships
To be eligible for the Heinrich Boll Foundation Scholarships, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
Be enrolled or studying at an accredited higher education institution or state university in Germany.
Provide proof of German language proficiency with a Level DSH 2 or B2 certificate.
While students from any subject area can apply, priority will be given to those studying subjects aligned with the foundation's values.
Master's level students receive the scholarship for the regular duration of their program, with a possibility of extension by a semester. Doctoral candidates are awarded the scholarship for two years, with a potential extension by one or a half year. Renewal applications must be submitted separately.
